NNA News - Cabo Verde goalkeeper Vozinha has completed a move to Chilean football giants Colo Colo, weeks after helping his country qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and being voted the tournament's best goalkeeper by fans.

The 40-year-old, whose full name is Josimar Jose Evora Dias, was officially unveiled on Tuesday at Monumental David Arellano Stadium in Santiago, where dozens of journalists and club officials welcomed him.

Speaking at his presentation, Vozinha said the scale of the reception exceeded his expectations. "I expected something big, because we are talking about Colo Colo, a club with great history, but I did not expect so many people. I am happy to be received by so many people. I have to thank the whole universe, God and everyone."

The veteran goalkeeper described the transfer as another milestone in an unlikely career that began relatively late. "I started playing professionally at 25. I come from a very small country, with very few opportunities, almost none. I represent the Cape Verdean people, who work hard and never give up. For me, representing that is very rewarding."

Vozinha's arrival comes after a landmark year for African football. Cabo Verde secured its first-ever FIFA World Cup qualification, with the experienced goalkeeper playing a central role in the team's historic campaign. His move also highlights the growing recognition of African football talent beyond Europe's traditional leagues, with experienced players increasingly attracting interest from clubs across South America.

Colo Colo remains Chile's most successful football club and the country's only Copa Libertadores champion, having won South America's premier club competition in 1991. The Santiago-based side currently leads the Chilean Primera División standings and will hope Vozinha's experience strengthens its domestic and continental ambitions.
