NNA News - Egypt's net international reserves reached a record US$57.2145 billion at the end of August, strengthening the country's external financial position, according to provisional data from the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE).
The figure was up from US$49.2507 billion at the end of August 2025, an increase of about US$7.96 billion, or 16.2 per cent, over the year.
Reserves also increased by approximately US$920.6 million from the end of July, when they stood at about US$56.2939 billion, according to Egyptian financial reporting.
The latest figure marks the highest level recorded for Egypt's net international reserves, continuing a period of growth in the country's external buffers.
The CBE released the data on Monday without providing a statement from a named official on the reasons behind the latest increase.
Net international reserves provide a key source of foreign currency liquidity for Egypt and can help the country meet external payment obligations and support essential imports during periods of pressure on foreign exchange markets.
The composition of Egypt's reserves includes foreign currencies and gold, among other reserve assets. Egyptian financial reporting indicated that the value of the country's gold holdings increased significantly during August, contributing to the overall rise in reserves.
The record comes as Egypt continues efforts to strengthen its external position following years of pressure on foreign-currency liquidity and rising external financing requirements.
The International Monetary Fund has previously highlighted stronger foreign-exchange buffers, higher remittances, tourism receipts and the gradual recovery of Suez Canal revenues as factors supporting Egypt's external position.
The latest reserve data provides another indicator of the country's improving foreign-currency position, although the CBE's August figure remains provisional.
