NNA News – The strengthening of national defense has become a “fundamental” issue for Brazil amid the erosion of international norms, Celso Amorim, special adviser to the Presidency of the Republic, said in an interview with journalist Fernando Morais on the Nocaute program on TV 247, according to Brasil 247.

 Citing the genocide in Palestine, the US intervention in Venezuela and the tariff measures imposed by Donald Trump’s government, Amorim described the current international situation as “a world of raw wounds.”

 “Good or bad, it was a world with rules, which we could question and dislike,” Amorim said. “We used to say that many of these rules were biased against us, but we were able to make our case and, in some important cases, even win,” he added.

 “Today it is a world without rules. There are no rules at all in any field, in any area. And more serious than that, this is also happening in the military field,” Amorim said. “It is a very dangerous world,” he added.

 The special adviser defended measures to strengthen national defense, not only in the military sphere, but also regarding issues such as rare earths and Artificial Intelligence (AI). “What happened in Venezuela, I think would be unlikely to happen in Brazil, but I also never imagined that it could happen in the way it did,” Amorim said, assessing that national defense “leaves much to be desired.”
