NNA News: England were unable to secure a second consecutive victory at the FIFA World Cup after being held to a 0-0 draw by a disciplined Ghana side in their Group L encounter at Boston Stadium on Tuesday. Despite dominating possession and outshooting Ghana 18-2, the Three Lions failed to break down a compact Ghanaian defence. England captain Harry Kane came closest late in the match when a rebound fell kindly to him in the 86th minute, but he fired over the crossbar.
The result leaves England and Ghana level on four points after two matches, with England remaining top of Group L on goal difference. Midfielder Jude Bellingham, who earned Player of the Match honours on his 50th appearance for England, admitted frustration at the outcome."It feels like we've got that second-game fever again. In most tournaments I've played, it's been the same: a decent performance and good win in the first game, then a tougher second one," Bellingham said.
England, who opened their campaign with a 4-2 victory over Croatia, created several opportunities but found Ghana goalkeeper Benjamin Asare and the Black Stars' defensive unit difficult to overcome. Ghana's best opportunity came shortly after halftime when Marvin Semaya broke through on the right flank, only for Djed Spence to intervene with a crucial defensive challenge.

England manager Thomas Tuchel praised his team's patience but acknowledged the challenge of facing a deeply defensive opponent."We had a double chance at the end, and perhaps we deserved to win. It's difficult to score against these teams; if you can't score, it becomes a game of patience," Tuchel said. "We did a great job defending their counterattacks and the substitutes contributed well. We will now focus on Panama."
Ghana coach Carlos Queiroz expressed satisfaction with his side's performance."I am so proud of the way our players fought during the game and followed the game plan," he said. "When you have to defend, you defend. The objective was to frustrate England and limit their solutions, and the players executed that perfectly."
